The main problem is, that you should do every update, because they fix security holes. Skip a update is no option.
It is also possible, that someone find a bug in XP home and this hole doesn't exist in XP POS, so no update would released.
XP is outdated.
Get Windows XP updates till April 9, 2019!

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/opi ... -windows-9
What about drivers? The office PC does need access to printers, maybe scanners/copiers too. Often those devices are all-in-one. Since the range of devices to be served by peripherals has increased greatly with Tabs and Smart phones, the drivers themselves are getting smarter and clearly a reduced dependency on a specific OS is on the horizon. In the meantime, HP, Epson, Cannon - their newest devices support XP, but in any event office PCs can print via a Server.
I doubt that has changed much in Europe, where uttering the phrase 'Windows 8' is akin to swearing.According to the latest statistics, almost a third of PCs are still running Windows XP
Indeed, Microsoft had better start looking after their baby again or it will be taken off them.Security vendors are unlikely to remove Windows XP support from their packages while they can still make money from protecting old versions. A quick scan around security vendors like Kaspersky Lab, McAfee - now Intel Security - and Symantec confirms this, with their latest 2014 antivirus packages listing Windows XP as a supported OS.

Ok, your argument is, because many very stupid users use XP, XP is not outdated?
Re: Get Windows XP updates till April 9, 2019!
Oh, so now I'm stupid?
Well, just to let you know, I'm not rich, and I can't afford (and frankly I don't need to) buy a new PC for some purposes where it isn't needed to, specially for something I still use to program a microcontroller and eproms, since this hardware only has drivers for XP. But I use that PC for development too, and I just want to feel safe while using it. Also, it doesn't have to support new technologies, it's only purpose is this.
So, although I also use a great PC with some great hardware with Windows 8.1 and Xubuntu, I also NEED a working XP unit.
Am I steel stupid?

No, the main problem is that the OS has bugs.GPI wrote:The main problem is, that you should do every update, because they fix security holes.
That assertion is incorrect.Skip a update is no option.
Too many users have adopted a paranoid attitude which results in a slavish swallowing of anything that M$ dishes out.
Skipping updates to unused functionality (.net comes to mind) saves energy and reduces OS bloating.
Then it is also possible to find a bug in XP POS that is not in XP Home, and the update is unnecessary. It is also possible, that someone find a bug in XP home and this hole doesn't exist in XP POS, so no update would released.
After over a decade of 'support' M$ has fixed the bugs in XP by last spring.
I would not worry about updating XP any further, it's good enough to consider it as being a completed implementation.
Such a snobbish attitude.XP is outdated.
You should know that running an "outdated" OS on "outdated" hardware makes good sense.
For most users the applications are what really matters, not the OS.
Good security has more to do with good user habits.
I don't quite follow your illogic GPI.GPI wrote:Ok, your argument is, because many very stupid users use XP, XP is not outdated?
Many stupidly self microwaving users with extra money to stupidly donate to Apple use the iPhone 6, yet it's not outdated.
What does user stupidity have to do with an OS being up to date?
Remember, all that computer software does is to flip binary switches.
Keep it BASIC.

This is in fact working extremely well because the updates clearly state what the update is for.
