Check also PC SOFT: WinDev, WebDev, WinDev mobileLittle John wrote:Interesting, thanks for the hint!bembulak wrote:@Danilo: have you ever tried RunRev LiveCode? It's "different" but targets quite a lot of platforms.
I always thought RunRev is a clone of WinDev, so I didn't really try it. I remember LiveCode was a Kickstarter project.
Checked again some LiveCode videos on youtube. See also: Wikipedia: HyperCard:
Similar systems
- LiveCode, published by RunRev, expands greatly on HyperCard's feature set and offers color and a GUI toolkit which can be deployed
on many popular platforms (IOS, Android, Classic Macintosh system software, Mac OS X, Windows 98 through 7, and GNU Linux/Unix).
LiveCode directly imports existing HyperCard stacks and provides a migration path for stacks still in use.
It is interesting, but to be honest I don't like AppleScript / HyperTalk. Classic programming languages are more clearly and strictly definedIn addition, many of the basic concepts of the original system were later re-used in other forms. Apple built their system-wide scripting engine AppleScript on a language similar to HyperTalk
than this "plain english" programming languages.
Re: AGK 1 free until 21 march 2014 (GDC )
That's what I ment: it's different! One has to like Hypercard, to find LiveCode interesting.

I'd definitely go with WinDev Mobile.. 2,273 USD vs 999 a year. LiveCode enterprise licenses are 5x the cost of WinDev Mobile, and that's per-year.. You can have drop-in Xcode and NDK headers done by a reputable freelancer for about 800-1.1k..
Also, I don't know if these two RAD type tools are webview or native code based. They're not indy priced at such an up-front investment either way.. With the exception of the RAD piplines, NDK and Xcode static libraries are way more economical and just as productive. Mobile 8 is such a small market and is so expensive to develop for you can afford to skip it till you've tested the market for your project..
If it wasn't for IOS approval issues I'd just build an HTML5 canvas engine with webviews and API macros. It's faster than all the other solutions and anyone can do it in a matter of weeks..

Just for the record: LiveCode's available as an OpenSource Edition, which already offers lots of opportunities.
These WinDev Epress Editions: is there any comparison to the standard ones? I was not able to find any description, but find it quite interesting.
Oh, if Embacadero would rethink their pricing for Delphi, or: if only Lazarus for Android would be easier to setup and handle. At the moment it's such a beast, I can't get it to work.

If you register your email when downloading the demo/express version, you get special offerstj1010 wrote:I'd definitely go with WinDev Mobile.. 2,273 USD vs 999 a year.
and news from time to time. Not spamming, maybe 1 or 2 mails per month.
Special offer usually is:
1.) WinDev 40% discount: 990,- Euro
2.) WinDev + WebDev + WinDev mobile = 60% discount: 1990,-Euro
It is also listed in the shop, and there is a "Competitive Exchange" offer.
Re: AGK 1 free until 21 march 2014 (GDC )
Here is another reason to not buy AGK.. All the functions they never even implemented but have documentation for.. There are basically no GPS, NFC, Light, Compass, Accel. functions in AGK..You have some* networking(that don't seem to work on some platforms) and a lot of broken graphics, physics, sound functions. Yet they still sale it and do epic amounts of marketing for it..

"A super range of our best game making products at an amazingly low price! Grab your copy before they are all gone.
Price: $29.99

Before they are all gone?
You can save $751.79!!!!
Based on those juvenile claims in that ad, this super range of products has to be aimed at children. Right?

If you were to buy each item individually from the store it would cost a shit load, anyhow I ain't counting, also as an added bonus they have thrown in 3DCrafter Special Edition too.heartbone wrote:"A super range of our best game making products at an amazingly low price! Who cares anyhow, it is still a fantastic offer, you got a better one.

Thats about all the 2D,3D and gaming stuff I will ever need for my purposes.

$800.00 for a suite of products that haven't seen updates in at least a year and in most cases are DX modelers and programming languages years old.
Monkey looks cool, and probably has the most professional development, but like AGK, no sensors and a base networking API. It works though..
I've yet to see a unified platform dev kit that has support for actual mobile features that wasn't webview and HTML5 based..

Re: AGK 1 free until 21 march 2014 (GDC )
Not sure what more updates need to be made, DB Pro is working very nice for me on Win 8.1, even without having to install DX9, which I never needed to install for PB either.
I am much more interested in using the Game Makers package for expanding my options for creating 3D and graphics effects for video and music productions, I wont have the time to get into creating games.
Actually it is a great combination with PureBasic.
