Older versions of PB...

Post by phunk »

This is just a suggestion, but here goes nothing...

I'm 15, and ~$60 in Euro is hard to come by, especially since I live in the United States. I love PureBasic with all of my heart (as far as programming goes), but I just can't afford to pay the fee. So I was wondering, maybe make older versions of the software available in full so people in similar situations to my own can enjoy PB as well?

So maybe, just maybe, have versions 1 or 2 releases behind be available in full? For example, 3.8x is currently available, yes? Why not make 1.8 or 2.0 or something similar available in full as well?

Sincerely,
phunk

I see what you mean but when you buy PureBasic you get access to all future upgrades at no extra cost so whatever version you purchase (apart from the old boxed version) you will always have the newest one!

Time to get a good newspaper round! :D

Because you'd put more people off than bring in. Early versions had some majorly annoying bugs, so supplying a fixed version would be the same as supplying the latest version. Oh and some commands have been added, removed and names changed. Syntax and new features have been added. You'd end up with code not being usable because the old versions don't have the required features.
If you paint your butt blue and glue the hole shut you just themed your ass but lost the functionality.

you live in the US right, don't you have a birthday or something. Or how about your parrents credit card. I bet you have an X-Box with 5-10 games that cost $50.00 each, right? Tell your perents to get this as a birthday gift or something. Or as a tool for learning all parents are willing to shell out $$ for education.

Hehe... first off, I hate Xbox, and I'd never play it. Ever. Not because I'm anti-Microsoft, but because the games library sucks and the controller is awkward as hell. (I'm still playing Nintendo 64, and the original NES, because they rock)

I guess I could try the birthday ploy, but I'd rather use an outdated version of PB than wait 8 months.

Ask them to get it as an early B-day gift or tell them you need it for education or maybe even work it. do some work around the house or odd jobs won't take to long do odd jobs and it's good for you too.

Well, I'm 27 now but when I was 10, I had a paper route. I don't know how old you are but if you are looking into programming, I'm sure you could make some fast cash some where.

But better than having girls 3/4 your weight tossing you out the door when you tried to interest them in your hobbies.

How does your son manage to make 1000 usd (USD?) a year? I am 15 and make 300 Euro a year....
