Yestarday i was very happy, I had just bought a new Asus motherboard for my also new XP2000+ cpu...

I dismounted this computer, installed the new board, connected every thing...

Then i pressed the power button and it instantly burned the CPU FAN power line diode!!!

SHIT :?

Dismounted every thing again and went to the reseller store to ask them for a new board or a refund...

They MF just told there was no way in hell i would ever see a new motherboard or the money because they simply don't give any warranty to damaged equipment! 8O

That line was new to me.... I always though warranties where exactly to handle these type of situations!

That really pissed me off :twisted:

I wrote a 2 page fax to ASUS Europe requesting explanations about their warranty licence and a 3 page fax to ASUS representatives in Portugal asking then how they would solve the problem, since the store refused to help me and also why no manufacturer documents where given and why there was not a Portuguese instalation manual on the BOX (this one will screw them if they say it was bad instalation of the motherboard... Me no speak english....) :twisted:

Well, remember the probs i have with my MB.

But really, MB can cause really trouble. For example, a friend of mine bought an Elitegroup MB some time ago. It worked quite well EXCEPT... the sound. There was always noise in the sound and we were not able to kill this prob at all. We even tried disabling the onboard sound chip and installed a sound card which worked perfectly on my machine.... Okay, we returned that f***ing thing and in the store, the worked on the MB for about an hour and then told us: 'There is a wrong BIOS installed on your MB'. Great! They also told us, we wont get warranty, but at last we got it. So much trouble just because these assholes (Sorry, but they really are) were not able to install a correct BIOS which i did many times without any problems....... But at least we got the warranty....

I really hope that you are going to get response from ASUS. Usually, hardware manufacturers say: You bought it, so it's up to you if this thing works or not........... I really wish you good luck!!!!

1. look for the BUSIEST hour

2. then walk in with four or five friends (you don't know eachother, ties and shirts help)

3. let two of them show a lot of interest in a machine (we want to buy etc.)

4. then politely interrupt and ask them just in general about their guarantee conditions...

5. you will certainly get a suitable reply, now it's your turn to express your wonder...

6. 'that's interesting, i just bought this board, it turned out to be broken, and your collegue is refusing to take it back'...

7. you will be transferred to someone else, where you (politely again) explain the default product, you refer to any of their salespeople you have met thus far, en politely request a replacement

8. if no luck thus far, a small raise in voice might help

if they know your face, you might use someone else to use this trick, i had to use it twice myself, one time for a laptop that they took 6 months to repair, and one time i helped out a friend who got serverely cheated on a used car

there is, however, one snatch: if they think YOU damaged the product, you won't get away with it... which is why i never buy cpu / boards seperately, but always buy them as upgrade sets, where most shops in my area place the cpu (and do a quick test) before handing it out, to save on discussion time later :-)

News update!

The ASUS technical manager called me on my mobile around launch time today :D

After i gave him a technical wash out he asked to deliver the motherboard to the reseller with a note, that it should be sent to him directly for analysis! :twisted:

He also told me that their examination would be made in less than 24 hours!

Now i'm impressed! :lol:

The guys at the reseller went all bullshit on me, telling me they would have to send the board to their supplier... I politly told them that ASUS PT was waiting for them to send the motherboard over to them...
