Prevent App Nap

Post by spacebuddy »

None of my Apps are getting the "Prevent App Nap" checkbox when you select Get Info on the app.

I am using x64 with the latest version of PureBasic 5.30

Probably this is more of a feature request! In all cases +1, this is really an important 'feature'

Just curious, does your app have a window?

There should be 3 options in Get Info Panel

"Open in 32-bit mode" if your app is 64-bit
"Prevent App Nap"
"Locked"

I only get Locked.

The first option is only if you create a universal binary app.

After doing a bit of reading, the "Prevent App Nap" will not show up if the Application is Native.

I created a 64bit app in Xcode and the "Prevent App Nap" was not visible. This was a true native app. I guess PB now creates true native apps. :D

Anyone have more information on this?

What do you mean by "native app"? I checked some of my installed programs,
and they all have the app nap checkbox.
Even PB IDE itself has the checkbox. Could it be that this is only available
for signed apps? Otherwise I don't see a difference (to PB IDE for example).

Other apps written with PB:
- Sprite Monkey (signed app) has app nap checkbox
- Mollusk (not signed) does not have app nap checkbox

Danilo,

Very strange, how come some PB apps have the "Prevent App Nap" and some do not?

Any Application I create in PB does not have it, even the examples I try with PB. :D

Can you try to create an 64bit application with Windows then check if the App Nap is visible.

I use Maverick OS for my testing.

I think Danilo is trying to find out if you are signing your apps or not? I just compiled Sprite Monkey without signing it and there is no app nap option. Must be for signed apps, like Danilo stated. That's interesting and kind of odd. Thanks Danilo. ;)
