Missing Libs on Linux, PB won't work now [SOLVED]

Post by garretthylltun »

Previously I was using Netrunner 13.xx 32 bit, which is a Kubuntu based distro using KDE desktop. Unfortunately my computer died and I had to piece together another one and wound up with a 64 bit computer. I installed the last version of the Netrunner distro, 14.xx and download PB, 5.22 64bit and 5.30 beta 9 64bit. but I can get neither to run. Here's my console output from checkinstall and apt-get:

Code: Select all

This script try to detect if all developments packages are correctly installed. If you are using a Debian or Ubuntu like distribution, you can use the following line to install all the package at once (run as root):

# apt-get install gcc g++ libc6-dev libsdl1.2-dev libgtk2.0-dev libgnomeprint2.2-dev unixodbc-dev libgnome2-dev libxine-dev libgnomeprintui2.2-dev libxxf86vm-dev

libstdc++ not found.
libstdc++ devel package need to be installed to use PureBasic
xxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxx-desktop:~/Programs/purebasic$ sudo apt-get install gcc g++ libc6-dev libsdl1.2-dev libgtk2.0-dev libgnomeprint2.2-dev unixodbc-dev libgnome2-dev libxine-dev libgnomeprintui2.2-dev libxxf86vm-dev
[sudo] password for xxxxxxxx:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package libgnomeprint2.2-dev
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'libgnomeprint2.2-dev'
E: Unable to locate package libgnomeprintui2.2-dev
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'libgnomeprintui2.2-dev'
I've searched through synaptic to find this lib but to no avail. Does anyone have any insight on this problem and maybe some tips on resolving it? Did the last version of Ubuntu do away with this lib? Do I need to enable some backport repositories?

Thanks in advance,
~Garrett

PureBasic is at least now working. I installed all the needed components individually and can now run and compile my programs, but the libgnomeprint components are still missing.

Thanks,

Aaaaaaaaand... I should have searched the forum better because the answer to my problem was already posted about before and my problems are completely resolved now.

Would be nice to have a primer description at a special prominent point (purebasic directory, INSTALL file, e.g.) covering all these basic topics instead of searching again and again all three forums.
