Have you tried the ButtonGadget instead of AddKeyboardShortcut for testing purposes?

Narrowing it down might help to get to the bottom of this.

My theory is that something is weird happening, directly or not with the use of AddKeyboardShortcut on your computer.

If I was able to reproduce, I would try different keyboard. Upgrade or downgrade the keyboard software & driver package. Try Microsoft standard keyboard driver.

My money is on a link with AddKeyboardShortcut usage.

Please have a look at Joe Hobart's insight on this subject: http://www.windowsbbs.com/legacy-window ... ation.html

The reason for this error might be sought in Windows Updates. It is a fact that every Windows update creates more problems than it solves.
That said, there is a real possibility that you experience this problem on a very specific hardware (!) because Microsoft has to adapt it's software to that specific hardware.

When you originally installed your system, did you have the official drivers (from their manufacturer) installed for your hardware?
Since, when you don't do that, you will end up using Microsoft's own drivers for the hardware, which is NOT OK.
In order to get a system stable, one MUST install the drivers for the hardware from the hardware manufacturer!
Not only that, you have to check from time to time for UPDATED drivers and install them!

Having read the sentence that "Fred can't fix the problem", I think that is VERY unfair. Maybe it IS caused by a bad driver, or simply any other M$ software...
