is there a working scene editor for PB Ogre 5.20 LTS?

Post by T4r4ntul4 »

is there a working scene editor for PB Ogre 5.20 LTS?

just a 3D scene editor where i can place things, rotate and move.

i already tried the list on Ogre site, but i get or a error or its crashing :( and iam failing to find a good working one for PB Ogre.
i can make my own 3D scene editor but if theres a solution already out there, iam not in the mood for inventing the wheel again.

any solutions?

edit: my system is: Win7 64bit

I know some people have their own 3D editors, but I'm not aware of any that have been released for public use.

it only exports to ogre .xml, so if i understand right, if i have a whole world build in deepmesh, it exports to a single file? so i cant edit the objects any further in PB itself? for example: with hide, moving objects and so on?

You can ask those questions on the deepMesh website - but it is coded with PB with PB Developers in mind, so I imagine you should be able to do a lot with it. It's certainly a lot of app for the money!

Only exports to Ogre .xml? No, it exports to a wide range of formats (and imports a wide range too, see the online User Manual).

If you want to learn handling with terrain and Ogre, just write such an editor yourself.

There are translators to convert other file types to Ogre. There are also enough functions in PB to to write an importer for triangle any mesh format, so long as you know the format spec.

I never played yet on this side of the fence. However I did download and make some alterations to have it work with PureBasic 5.22 LTS. It runs now, but I don't know a bloody thing about the operation of this. Here is the updated source codes, available in an archive package - http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=892 ... 4105333296

I noticed too that it was still throwing errors. But even with the version of PB used to create this, 4.61. It throwing the same errors while I'm messing around init. However, I did see reference to it being an alpha package.

I have written a lot of my own tools too - apps to make apps with :)
I would encourage you to give deepMesh a try though - if you don't like it or it does not meet your requirements, it will at least give you a better idea of what is good and what is not. It certainly could not be cheaper @6GBP/10USD/8EUR, yet there is a demo version to try.
