Gaming Cockroach: Another Ludum Dare Entry (OSX & Windows)

Post by Poshu »

This weekend, there was the Mini Ludum Dare 49, and for the third time in a row I made a game...
Image

What is Gaming cockroach? Well, it's a game where you play a cockroach playing Tetris!
...
Yes, it is stupid... Actually I believe it's both the most uplayable Tetris ever and the stupidest game on the internet, BUT it is fun.
Also, there is a few features I'm proud of:
  • Local Multiplayer! (you'll need at least one controller)
  • Online leaderboard!
  • Konami code (and this one is REALLY funny, you should try it)

I'm pretty proud of this one, I did it all alone and every features I wanted to had is in.
Give me some feedback please :p

LOL, I don't believe my eyes, the cockroach going around the controller to play is something I wouldn't have never dreamed. :P

Looks very nice and quite polished too.

PS: is for this game you were looking for some joystick lib ?
"Have you tried turning it off and on again ?"

Hell no, otherwise you'd be in the credits. This game was entirely made over this weekend; I should be able to show my long-run project soon, if I can make it work on Windows that is.

You made it on a weekend ?
I'm always amazed by how incredibly slow I am when programming, it would have required me a month to do that :o
Thankfully I don't do this as my job anymore

My daughter is somewhat of a gaming connoisseur and regularly plays your game.
She has been climbing the leader board.
Thanks for releasing such an interesting simulation.
Keep it BASIC.

Has anyone had any issues with avast and the windows download? At the end of the download my Avast web shield appeared saying it blocked a harmful file.
I wonder if it's a false alarm or if there's a virus hanging around the download?

That so sweet! How old is she? I never thought someone that never played the NES would find it fun, give her my thanks!

Well, it was compiled on an up-to-date, almost never used windows 8.1 virtual machine and uploaded on my own up-to-date debian 7 server, so I'd say false alarm (kinda usual with PureBasic sadly). Here is the virus total analysis : https://www.virustotal.com/fr/file/e6b6 ... 395540550/. I discovered a few days ago that packing binary data in the executable tends to rise more false alarm than usual :/
