PC game selection

Post by DriakTravo »

Why is it that the PC has no snowboarding games or futuristic racing games like SSX 4 or Extreame G racing? All I see for PC is WW2 remakes and crappy modern race games. I dont want to buy an XBOX or PS2 just for a couple of games...

Just makes me mad

One can only assume, but I think game developers think consoles have the future...

I know what you mean. XG is one of my favorite games. I had to buy the GameCube to play my favs: XG, Wave Race, F-Zero and so on. There is a new racing game called "Need for Speed Underground" which is for the pc and it's really nice. It even has free online game play mode. :D

I have beaten NFS:Underground. Here is my review posted at Amazon:

I have never played a game like this in my life! It is awsome. You can change the way the car looks and sounds, it is totaly custumizable. The pros: (1)Great sound effects and soundtrack really brings the feeling of the game to life. (2)Awsome special effects! nitro booster and the screen shake in drag mode are my favorite. (3)The cars look cool. You can unlock and custumize just about anything. (4)Graphics are stunning! Cons:(1)No replay mode. Really horrible...(2)You can crash into a semi at 150mph and you wont get a scratch on your car! The dammage engine is a bit iffy.(3)The game is a bit long. You have to win 111 races. After about 50 races, half the stuff is unlocked, but I start to loose intrest in playing. (4) Levels are repetitive.

Anyway, I loved the game. There are some games that are comming out soon like Crashday, Half Life 2 (who knows when), The Sims 2, Battlefield Vietnam, Hitman 3, etc.

But I am so bored of the simulation games and first person shooters that become so repetitive! One day...

I know what you mean, same game different name. I found myself playing Monkey Ball not to long ago. Not a bad game, it was different at least.

I dont want to buy an XBOX or PS2 just for a couple of games...
XBOX : what that ?

It's a very cheap PC, running with a modified Win2000 OS. I think several game devellopper are just stupid (sorry). WFO to not create a small modification to the game engine to make it compatible with the PC platform.

THEY HAVE THE GAME SOURCE CODE SO IT'S A TRIVIAL JOKE FOR THEM TO DO IT.

For me it's for only one game MX Unleashed. I prefer to upgrade my graphic card instead to buy an XBOX console. For the moment I search on internet for an Xbox to PC emulator.

I have found one called Xeon but under developpement.

If someone found one fully operational please reply here

Best regards

The thing with the Xbox (and other console types) is that there is a specified hardware defined, which means that the games developers do not need to bloat the software with quirks and workarounds for the game to work on all the (thousand) different pc setups in the world...
They can optimize the software for ONE platform..

In addition, the OS is stripped of all the uneccesary stuff for it to run as a games machine...
This makes the xbox one of the most powerful consoles around, and it "only" runs at 733MHz (or something there around)...

Different? GAME IDEA

I'm a skydiver.
http://www.wolfriverskydivers.com/
I've also made 1 B.A.S.E. jump.
http://trondoc.ezwebtech.com/theBRIDGE/JoeBridge.html

Both sports involve intense focus, accurate timing, specialized knowledge,
instantaneous decisions and an EXTREME love of life to
be successful in them.

I am no good (read: not experienced in) game programming,
but would be happy to provide experience in the sport and
technnical knowledge if anyone wants to attempt a game
simulating one or any combination of the following:
body flight
canopy (parachute) flight
B.A.S.E
skydiving
parachuting

The complexity of such a game/simulation could
range from simple gravity/wind variable affected
2D grafix all the way to full 3D effects with
every (hundreds) variable the sport entails.

I am by no means an expert in any of these, but my
resources are great and I can speak from personal
experience on all of them.

I think it would be much better than another
slash&burn or findthetreasure type games..

Any thoughts?

Joe B.

I doubt it's a "Trivial Joke"... Perhaps not the hardest thing in the world, but I seriously doubt it's that simple.
For me it's for only one game MX Unleashed. I prefer to upgrade my graphic card instead to buy an XBOX console. For the moment I search on internet for an Xbox to PC emulator.
But an XBox is cheaper than a decent video card (at least it is here).. Xs are $99 at the nearest department store.

I have several PCs and several XBoxes, I enjoy the games on both..

xbox at $99?!?

over here they are approx euro 199!!!!!

which is why the gamecube made somewhat of a recovery, they now well at approx. e99 and went up the charts to a 25% market share in europe now

the thing with consoles is: they are easy, have well defined controls, and software is not as easy to copy as it is on pc's, and total idiots can use them

all the more reason for software companies to develop for consoles

expect to see less and less games on the pc... just ego shooters, rts and adventures, for the rest it's going to be console after console

the xbox is a clever trick... use regular pc's to code and test, tailor the final results to xbox hardware and tie it in so close that it won't work on different hardware... (even though there is supposed to be an abstraction layer between hardware and game (can you say direct x?) there's enough to keep x box emulators on the pc at bay... yet)

My XBOX is modded and thus I can play THOUSANDS of games on it,
such as Atari 2600, Amiga, Commodore 64, MAME, etc. Sure, they're
not the LATEST games, but 99% of them are more fun that the latest
stuff anyway. ;)
