How to bake a UV map into a model with Vertex Color?
How to bake a UV map into a model with Vertex Color?
Hi all, just as the title states, is there an example anywhere on the forums to bake a UV texture map into a vertex colored 3D model in order to achieve higher quality 3D model textures?
Thank You!
Thank You!

I'm not really sure if I understood that correctly. Is it something like normal or parallax mapping?

hmm, or he wants Displacement Mapping?
EDIT: Do you have an tutorial for Bump- or Parallax Mapping?

I basically need to turn a low quality texture into a higher quality texture. And the only way to do that is to combine both the vertex colors of a model, and the UV at the same time. At least I think.

Ah, i believe you mean LOD (Level of Detail). In the OGRE Wiki, there stands something about it. Just Google OGRE Material LOD or something similar...
Re: How to bake a UV map into a model with Vertex Color?
Yea, but I'd like to keep this as simple as possible. So no OGRE, I'm afraid.

I'm still working on my parallax shader, but I do have a bump shader. It's for a commercial project though, but I could set up a tutorial on one of OGRE's examples.Bananenfreak wrote:EDIT: Do you have an tutorial for Bump- or Parallax Mapping?
At this time Purebasic can only use a portion of OGRE through native commands. If you don't use OGRE's features through scripts. Your going to have a limited arsenal when it comes to higher end graphics.Mythros wrote:Yea, but I'd like to keep this as simple as possible. So no OGRE, I'm afraid.

Ok, well setting up a tutorial on how to turn low quality textures on a model into high quality textures on a model would be GREAT! Even if you have to do it with OGRE.
Thank you!

I might be able to help you, but first I need to know exactly what your after.
LOD, as Bananenfreak mentioned, is the reduction or the increase of the material, mesh, or terrain when you are certain distance away. So, for a material you would use a high quality texture. Then if your close to the object you have high quality and if your far away you have low quality.
Here's a link to LOD.

From what you said, to me, it sounded like you were after something different. A name for this process your after would help a lot.
Mainly because I've never heard of this process.

My knowledge is rather limited.I basically need to turn a low quality texture into a higher quality texture. And the only way to do that is to combine both the vertex colors of a model, and the UV at the same time. At least I think.

Samuel,
that would be very nice, thanks
A tutorial for it would be all what I need ^^
P.S.: Commercial project?

I'm working with a company that has 3D graphics for their CAD/CAM software.
As for the tutorial I'll get started on it in a little while.

Basically, what I'm looking for, is a way to bake a texture map onto a vertex colored model, thus allowing for instant higher quality.
I basically want to take a low quality texture, and make it high.
Then be able to save it with this change.
Thank You!

Mythros, he works and wants to help you in his free-time. Let him time, he is posting the code when it´s done.

Sorry for disappearing on you. I was busy and I didn't get the chance to work on this that much.Mythros wrote:Any luck buddy? =)
Sadly, I haven't found anything on what your looking for. Would you happen to have any links to videos, pictures, or a sample of this?
It would make my life a lot easier if I had something to go off of.
