You can scall everything as you want. It depends more
on what you need. I (for example) have based my
tile-system to 1x1 world unites. Choose the value that
fits your needs. For example, think about what unit is the
best to calculate with.
Just be careful with high and low values, as OGRE
uses float-numbers and maybe you will, too.

With the default gravity you want your objects to be between 0.05 and 10.0.
