Hey Alexi

I'm not sure I follow...Do you want to protect your resources from being 'stolen' by adding them to the exe file?
If so...I hate to break it to you. You can't - not really protect your resources from being extracted, if some
hardcore dude wanted them.
Personally, I've skipped the paranoia...Chances are that an equally or better piece of software already exists or will exist, either for free
or for pocket change. Me, I don't care about people using my resources. I consider it a personal triumph, especially if the
person has the decency to name me as the author of the resource (whatever that might be). That's the best kind of endorsement one can get today.
It's soooo easy to get lost in the vast ocean of software and unless you got millions of dollars for commercials a.s.f -
chances are, that your software drowns together with the 99% of other applications out there.

Best regards
Peter

Look at the commercial games, all the assests are available, they just don't care, because you can't really protect them.

Exactly, i just protect them from Kids. They often use them for a crappy Template Project, and can also impair the Image of the originally Product in the worst case, if the user think this Product is from the same Developer.

@Fred: that's right, but not on Projects like Sims, online MMORPG's where you have to unlock Items. It's a real damage, if the Project is funded on buying new Items like Clothing with real Money. Would be really nice, if this could be added. No local Files makes it impossible/to much work for more than 50% of the Users.

So it's more for the fairness between the Users. A CatchMesh + Skeleton would suffice. Actually, the User could simply replace the Files, i can't event check if the Filename fits the Content.
If it's for online use:
Why not just have the mesh and skeleton on the server? Download the mesh, load it and then delete locally, when loading is complete?

That's how i actually do this. It's a workaround, like cooling a cake on the window board, where everyone could take it, instead of 'inside', where you have to brake into the house. Hm, cake.
LOL! You're sure, we're talking about kids right?
You can download the mesh from inside your software, to any location and delete it after your software has loaded the mesh - and they're
still able to modify your resources? :-)

If you are paranoid about your resources just use something like MoleBox (http://www.molebox.com/) there are a few others as well. But I agree, everything can be extracted sooner or later (especially if the game is popular). If the product is relatively unknown, chance are you can do away with files stashed in a zip renamed to .dat or something from majority of kids out there, who never really bother to think about anything. Catch3DArchive() sounds really nice, would like to see this in PB.
