And you can put your umbrella in it!
I liked more its more conventional predecessor, even if that one too was not expandable/customizable enough.
I'm curious to see it opened. If it can be opened.
A little too small to see it well -> http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/06/at ... al-design/
EDIT: better -> http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/06/a- ... w-mac-pro/
It's like I suspected. Not my idea of "personal" (do what I like the way I like with what I give you) computer.
The hardware is the main reason I never had a Mac.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again ?"

I like it!
The idea of a single heatsink needing only one fan to cool the whole system is genius! Maybe because of their innovation other computer makers will try to do this as well.
Will I buy it? No. Would I if I had much money? Maybe, but probably not (it is not suitable for gaming). But I have a Mac Mini and I love that design also.

I like logic, hence I dislike humans but love computers.

I already have a 12 core Mac Pro, other than the new cpu and small form factor and no expansion slots, what's new?

Does it put me in a bad light if I say that I'm really tempted...
Technology wise it's pretty cool, especially the SSD interface.
It redefines fast.
The expansions need to be added through Thunderbolt2.
Which is a bummer for users that already have a Mac with expansion cards.
(which I don't...)
Money wise it's a heavy pill to swallow though.
Hopefully there will be a one GPU version to get the price down.

I am to provide the public with beneficial shocks.

I've got one of those, oh wait that's my garbage can!
It's a nice design and specifications are pretty good but I doubt the price tag will be attractive

Re: New Apple MacPro, coming autumn 2013
I've already got 2 SSDs, and I don't have to waste a PCI-E slot to use them. I can put 2 more GPUs into my system instead.
Not sure what 4k support will really get you. Unless you want to be able to edit 4K HD footage - but then you probably already have a rig for that if you need 4k Support...
I could build a 12 Core SMP Intel rig, or 16 core AMD rig if I wanted to waste that kind of money, also..
One heatsink for the whole system? OK pretty neat I guess, but it seems more like a marketing gimmick. I'm sure its efficient enough - but how efficient? Such a design wouldn't fly in a PC. But if you really wanted serious cooling you could just install a compact water cooler, or have a custom designed heatpipe system. Depends on the size and your needs. I guess.
So yeah.. other than the cooling system and 4k stuff nothing new, most of this stuff is several years old on the PC side, but fear not! Apple will charge you top-dollar for it and make you believe its worth the cost. Your friends can admire it from above as you gather around it, while bending over to smell your own farts.

Will be curious to see the price.
The downside it is being made by Apple, so you will have the shoddy hardware and the thermal failures they are so famous for.

Best wishes to the PB community. Thank you for the memories.
