it is possible the bullet reached his head when it begins to lose its momentum

There is a pretty good chance a bullet hit the ground/rock/something else solid and lost a lot of velocity and ricochet into his head. Either way, a very lucky man :).

......actually, not only was I at the birth, I had to be the midwife! I have also been shot at (on more than one occasion), but I still think that video is PG rated :D
