Emphasize implemented feature requests

Got an idea for enhancing PureBasic? New command(s) you'd like to see?

Emphasize implemented feature requests

Post by c4s »

Mark implemented feature requests as [done] or something like that and maybe even delete them - similar as in the bug forums.

I mean a lot requests have already been implemented (especially recently ;)) so why keep them listed like this? These 130 pages really look like you never listen to us.

I know that you are probably concerned with the message it would have: By us (users) the wishlist would be seen a little more as some kind of todo list that you (Fred, Freak etc.) have to comply with. However, in my opinion the obvious advantages for you and us heavily outweight this...

Edit:
Ok, I just saw the occasional [Implemented]. However I never realized it before. Also clearly implemented topics don't seem to have this. Maybe the famous last post is needed?!

Definitely don't do that!

It is a good idea to mark them as [Done] though - for a start, the author of the request is alerted and so will be inclined to test the Beta.....

If it sounds simple, you have not grasped the complexity.

Why not?
Of course they could also move it to a hidden forum (as it's done with the fixed bugs). I think the slowly overcrowding feature request forum needs a clean up.

If you delete them, then your [Done] ([Implemented]) notification is lost and the original author may not notice during Beta time. Some feature requests are 'small' but sophisticated - it is useful to retain the request post so that others can understand the whys and wherefores of the enhancement. Finally, it is the recent implementations that are most likely to break both PB and your code, so it is handy to have those posts when you are trying to find out what happened.

Well, as I said it could be handled as in the bug forum: Fixed bugs get deleted after the final version (with that fix) has been released and some time has passed. Also I believe that those topics which have important discussions never get deleted...

So all in all my wish is simply that the "Feature Requests and Wishlist" forum gets treated as the bug forum for obvious reason.
