Bitdefender False? positive

When compiling with version 5.1 b6 Bitdefender (2013) antivirus stops the process. I get a POLink error and Bitdefender states that a file ~somenumber.tmp in my AppData\Local\Temp directory is infected. Anyone else use Bitdefender? and knows how to work around this? I really did not want to exclude the who;e directory from virus scan.

It's Bitdefenders fault.
Send them a false positive report with your .exe. They should fix it with one of the next updates. Unfortunatly it does reappear after a few more updates. Not much we can do about it. The problem is they are doing lazy simple heuristiks, which never detect a real threat.

Only thing to work around it is deactivating heuristik or using another scanner. Avast is one of the best and has no problems with PB for a long time now.

Obviously you are not going to send the PB5 exe to Bit Defender (if that were to be done, that's Fantaisie Software's job not yours).

Add polink.exe to BitDefender's white list (list of files known to be 'good'). On Windows you will find it in Program Files\PureBasic5\Compilers. You may need to add the other PB exe files too - I do for MS Essentials.

It is about MS Security Essentials and PB, but it's good advice for most Antivirus issues.

Thanks for all the advice. I ditched Bitdefender and am now using Avast without problems. I got Bitdefender on a great special and have used it in the past, however I think a couple of years ago I stopped using it for similar reasons. Anyway now have a two year sub to Avast so hopefully no more problems

Try this. worked for me using Windows7 Professional 32 Bit.
Check that Purebasic is pointing to the correct Folder with the compiler and Polink.exe present.
For some unknown reason when installing Bitdefender 2012 the Folder name was changed.
After correction no Polink Error and no infected files.

That may be true, but it certainly should not happen ~ who knows what else Bitdefender changes without telling the User?
