antivirus false positives

Post by TronDoc »

I've had one report that a user of my program theWRAP cannot
create wrapped executables because his antivirus
program (AVG antivirus: http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php )
reports a virus as soon as the wrapping occurs.
It's already been determined that it is a false positive,
but I can't contact AVG because they bounce emails without
a user license number contained in it.
If you are a licensed user of AVG, I'd appreciate your contacting me
to make some arrangement to inform AVG of this problem.

I'd appreciate anyone having any similar problems letting me know.

sheesh

thanks for listening.

Holy crap.. how are they supposed to handle the people wanting to mail them (maybe ask a question or two), before they buy their software
if they're not accepting mails without a lic.code?!?
Sounds too weird to me... Are you sure you can't find another e-mail address ta contact them on?!?

I read something about this also, Virusscanners that think it's a virus as soon as an executable file get's opened for writing.
Seems like a very bad scanner to me.

Once i found a very similar problem with Symantec.

This ppl are just making business from mantaning the users scared.

I send them an email and have no answer.

Next day i call my attorney and he send them a letter talking aboiut sue them... next day the answer my email and find a solution.

Antivirus companies are just a big mafia!

Another user of AVG gave me the license number
that came with the free version that they use.
I am trying that to see if the email gets to the AVG people.
So far it hasn't bounced back to me...
