Supposedly you can utilize up to 18 exabytes of memory in Windows 8. That's 2 billion gigabytes. To do this now, you would need something on the order of 500 million 4GB DIMM chips, which would cost about $2 billion dollars. Assuming chip density doubles every 2 years, exabyte chips should be available in the year 2076.

I remember when magnetic core memory cost about $1 per byte, or about $8 per byte in today's money.

My 2 cents...

I recently bought 2 laptops, before doing so i downloaded and installed a copy of Win8 on a WM to give it a fair shot...

The idea is good, but only for devices with touch screens and that will only use widgets, it's a nightmare to use it with the mouse and with 'normal' desktop software, specially that lower left corner hot spot, it just keeps firing IE (or whatever first program you have on the taskbar).

And to make things worst MS removed the developers preview option to re-enable the good old Start Button, this was the no-deal for me!

So after the 2 days of testing, i opted to buy Win7 laptops and it is my belief Win8 will be the biggest fiasco on desktops / laptops ever ...

This whole Win8 thing is somewhat silly. For example, who cares about 'Metro' apps on a regular machine anyway? A few of the older PC's at home won't run Win8, for all sorts of reasons, whilst they were perfectly fine running XP / Vista / 7. Alas, we all have but no choice to upgrade with XP support coming to an end...

I can still find many places to buy Windows 7 on Amazon, ebay and others. Just have to watch the price gouging by opportunists.

I usually tend to buy OEM copies only, half the price.
