Save and SaveAs Stopped Working

Post by laborde »

I had both versions 4.51 and 4.20 installed but could not keep them from sharing source files. After trying to solve the problem, both Save and SaveAs stopped working. I uninstalled both versions and reinstalled Version 4.20. Still have the same problem, cannot save files. How do I fix the problem? Is there an old configuration file hidden somewhere that is giving me the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds as though the uninstall didn't work so well. Try performing a forensic uninstall with Revo: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uni ... nload.html

Make sure that your system is as clean as can be before you reinstall. IObit's AdvancedSystemCare5 Free can help by cleaning-up your registry: http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-Syste ... tag=button

I'd defragment the hard drive too, and IObit's defrag app can help that too.

If it sounds simple, you have not grasped the complexity.

Thanks for your suggestion, I will give it a try. I was hoping to hear from someone who has experienced this problem and found a solution to it.

I accomplished the actions recommended by IdeasVacuum but the problem remained. I did many other things that did not work. I also installed PureBasic to a USB thumb drive and it ran without the no Save problem. It is clear that some unidentified configuration file remained on the computer that would render Save and SaveAs function inoperative. This file would also pass on to a new install of PureBasic information on recent files. Since I could never find this mystery file, I decided to Restore the computer to a point before the problem occured. After the restore, I deleted all reminants or PureBasic versions and re-installed. Success!
