Is there a PB business license?

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

Is there a PB business license?

Post by Thorium »

I have a new job in the same company as befor. I was in production and now i am in office as a CNC programmer. I do also develop the post-processors that convert the output of the CAM system to matching CNC code for different machines.
The post-processors are written in a special script language of the CAM system. This language has some limitations, i am currently bypassing by using a PureBasic program. This program needs to be updated with new features regularly. Now i am using my personal PureBasic license for that. Problem is i am the only one that can use the compiler because of my personal license.

What we need is a business license that can be shared by X employees.

Is there a business license? Or do we need to buy personal licenses for all employees that need to have access to the compiler?

I think you need to PM Fred, but many of us would like to know the answer............

No idea I'm afraid, though I like the fact PB is more and more used by companies :)

Fred can correct me... but from what I know this is the current state:

There isn't any business licence - which means buy one business licence, use PB for as many PB developers in the company as you like.

True is, that you regularly need one licence per PB developer in the company (= user-based licence model).

If there is a large number of developers, which would use PB.... let's say 10 or 20 developers, then you should directly contact Fred or me (I will "speak" with Fred then), if there is a "special price" possible (instead of 10x or 20x 79 Euro).

But you should be aware, that there can't be a "cheap" business licence (e.g. 200 Euro), for which a large number of PB developers then can get unlimited future updates for free...

Its not my call, but if you can afford to hire 10 developers - then you can afford 10 * 79 euro as well (which is still really power without the price).

I do agree with Jesper, however the help states that:
For personal use (i.e.: not used by a commercial organization) the updates are unlimited, unlike most other software out there.

I am not concerned about the price.
Right now it would be only for 2 people, later maybe 3. My concern is more that the company get a licence which employees can use. Right now PB has a personal license only, which only the one person it's licensed for is allowed to use it.

If the personal license can be asigned to any employee, then it's fine. The problem is it needs to belong to the company not to a person. Like with other software we use: We have a business license for 10 people. Dosnt matter which people use it. It can be used by 10 people this day and by 10 other people the next day as long as only 10 people use it simultaneously.

That is exactly 'it'. The company needs to be the owner, not least because some employees will inevitably leave but also for logistical reasons -for example, in larger companies, all the PCs are managed by an IT department, the Users cannot install anything.
