We need to perfom a big maintenance update to upgrade the underlying OS which is powering the forums computers. We have planed this for Wednesday, and if all goes well it should be only a few hours down, if not it could be longer. So don't panic if you can't connect then
Done. Unfortunately it didn't went well at all, the Ubuntu update process from 8.04 LTS to 10.04 LTS just failed and the remote computer never rebooted. I did a new clean install of debian 6 and reinstalled all the backups, and believe or not, but it seems to work .
I just re-enabled the english forum for now, so if you find something wierd, just tell. I will re-open the german and french forum later in the day.

Just did the same thing a few days ago from 8.04 to 10.04. I had to install all the latest updates on 8.04 before it would properly install 10.04. Maybe you did, I dunno.
On server side, a real Debian is always better than Ubuntu (and even on a workstation since Ubuntu 11.10 and its forced @!#&! Unity desktop)
You should try Debian "Testing" on workstations, it has amazingly improved these last months.

Sure i did. As I hadn't physical access to the computer i had only one chance, so i read many topics, but it failed..
Fred, do you plan also to update the forum software?
I would be very happy, if I could access the forum via the smartphone-app called "Tapatalk".
You only need to implement an plugin into the forum installation.
The tapatalk-plugin is free (http://www.tapatalk.com/pricing.php) and you only have to activate it once.
