The result about games do not surprise me - the biggest problem is not the programming side of the game. The problem are assets.
To keep things interesting and surprising, you need variety, and the biggest problem is acquiring enough content. And 3d content... well, you would be looking at around about £500 per model. Then your budget is constraining your projects vision.
I know this because I'm working with the guy who's writing Entombed (www.entombed.co.uk) and he's paid one person for a two headed Ettin, and then later when he tried to get more content, he's paid for a scorpion, but in his words... "it isn't intimidating enough".
So he'd started on modeling by himself which although is time consuming is simple enough, and then realized that he needs an animator who can transform his models into what he needs as his attempts at animating have either been "terrible" or "standard prebuilt moves" (i.e. walking)
Oh, and he was wanting about 25 creatures. Until he realized the cost...

The problem is also that PB comes without any tools for content creation. If PB would includeFoz wrote:The result about games do not surprise me - the biggest problem is not the programming side of the game. The problem are assets.
a modeler/World maker, it would be different in my opinion -> you can easily see that for other
game creation systems or programming languages that provide such tools.
LoadMesh loads OGRE .mesh and the available exporters on the OGRE website are limited.
LoadWorld:
Support for more file formats, tools like a world editor, and more exporters for OGRE could change the situation.PureBasic Help wrote:[...]
Currently, the Quake3 BSP format is the only one supported but more formats will follow.

The BSP format is owned by iD Software and can only be used in freeware programs. Commercial software must acquire a license from iD to use this format.
But I am not sure about it, after 9 years of PB/OGRE (v3.50, 6th January 2003)...

OGRE3D is not a closed environment. So it makes not much sense to
deliver also modelers, especially it would consume much time ... endless
story. At the end, if you want to create a 3D game without a game-
maker, you need to learn a lot. Of course, it would be much easier
if Fred would supply information about what tools can be used.
And thats a little problem from OGRE3D: there are PlugIns for many known
modeltools and co. They cost mony, doesn't work 100% or even when it
worked you can get a different result when loading it into PB-OGRE. When
you have get something to work, you realize one or two of the big bugs in
PB-OGRE ... that makes really no fun.
But for me ... the important stuff is still the functionality. What do you want
with a self-made modeler when PB-OGRE doesn't work.
Thats why
i just want bug-fixes for the game-engine.
But i have repeat it enough.
And sorry for bad English.

No, I wrote all the questions and texts in English. Google just seems to translate "* Erforderlich" and "Sonstiges".Little John wrote:All the other text is in English, and Google just translates this single word to German? That's strange.
That makes sense. I changed it.Little John wrote:Perhaps it should read "which subregion do you live in?" instead, but I'm pretty sure that the word "in" shouldn't be there twice.
Any more suggestions from you and/or the others? (Correcting spelling mistakes is allowed as well.

Hi, rsts
NSBasic is the one, can also be used to to develop Google Chrome apps
for desktops.
It seems the masses moved away from PC to smartphones and apps long
time ago so no reason not to follow them into a bright future

Hi,
Thanks.
I was hoping that was it. I'm interested in it too.
Have you done enough to determine whether or not you like it?
cheers
Thanks.

Lets wait and see how the results will be.
OK, finally it's online: http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... =7&t=49336c4s wrote:Lets try it again?!
I put all the questions in Google Docs because it offers more functionality, is easier to setup, has reports and users don't see the answers so they don't get biased in some way. Maybe this way even the members of the German and French can join it... Here it is:
