Finding DirectX version ++

Hi,

Is there a simple way to detect the DirectX version in use ?

An is there also a simple way to know if Window Media Player is installed on the computer and its version as well ?

Yes, I did ... but I am a newbie and I don't think that this is SIMPLE ... (I may have precised that it should work for all Win versions and all computers - for instance people do not necessary use windows as their windows directory ... -).
Maybe there is no simple way ...
