Reisekosten 1.5.6 / Mac App Store
Hi fellas,
yesterday, Apple let my little App "Reisekosten" slip into the Mac App Store. Link: http://itunes.apple.com/de/app/reisekos ... 5512?mt=12
It's developed with PureBasic, and - thanks to J.Baker - adopted by xCode to be sent to customers via the Mac App Store.
I thought, I tell you what happened. There were only to caveats:
- save path of App-data has to be ~/Library/Application Support/<your app name> (see http://purebasic.fr/english/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=47883)
- your App must have an Exit/Quit-entry in the menu... (otherwise, it's a bug, d'oh)
The tool itself is a travel cost calculator for Germany, maybe also useful for other German-Speaking areas.
Have a look here http://www.quadworks.de/?page_id=24
Great!

You have a very well-designed UI that looks very intuitive.
Best wishes to the PB community. Thank you for the memories.

Thanks to all
I heard of the rumors about Cocoa and Carbon, and it not being supported from November on.
I didn't hear anything about it, yet, from official sides. So, no scare here atm
To get this clear, I just asked Apple Customer Server about Cocoa and Carbon being granted to the Mac App Store...
Hopefully, I will get an answer by tomorrow! Will then post the answer, I got.

Re: Reisekosten 1.5.6 / Mac App Store
Hi there,
yes. Apple takes 30 % plus 79,- Euro per year for the license.
Sounds, like Apple is the winner - they are. But I feel like a winner, too.
The Mac App Store way, I do not have to put on the sales department, the ads department
falls down to promoting it on my webpage and some software-directories. So
30 % overall overhead costs I have to cope with when selling my software by myself,
will melt down to somewhat 3 to 5 % of income. And that is really not much ado to make
for a full service payment-account, isn't it?
Remember: better to sell 100 units for 70 % income than 5 units for 100 % income.
The App "Reisekosten" is available since 2007. I had - sit down - 6 customers
willing to PAY for it. Over the years there were more than 3000 downloads of the
then free tool ... Only one donator thought "Hey, much work. It use it, I donate."

You should feel like a winner, because most publishers will only give you around 30% and they will keep around 70%.jamirokwai wrote:Hi there,

Re: Reisekosten 1.5.6 / Mac App Store
Looks like I will have to pick up a cheap macbook.
I don't need to make a zillion, but the Istore could be a way to make a little money with amount of people taking on apps.
Mind you by the time I get an app done, there will probably be too many to choose from and get lost in the either.
Hi Kuron, you must be on the same time you just got in before me.

Hiya,
Apple answered to my question, if Carbon are still allowed from November on...
They said: nothing about my question.
Do'h!
I am not sure whether they understood my request...
