I didn't know that. I'll have to check it out, so thanks! But I still need my other extensions, and banking; so I can't ditch FF totally.

Opera is not a main-target browser because it is ... a sleeper.
Opera doesn't make much advertising. And for the most people, it can
to much. Thats the problem ... you need to take your time to get it.

But extensions? I never have looked for that ... because everything i used
is implemented in Opera. User Scripts are implemented as you see. What you
call Greasemonkey is just the name of the extension in Firefox i think.
mouse-gesture ... implemented
grouping tabs ... implemented
change the position of GUI controls ... implemented
zooming images automatically to fit screen when standalone ... implemented
auto-update (if you need) ... implemented
change http user-agent to firefox or ie ... implemented
history button "next page" usable for navigation to a not visited next page ... implemented
display target server from current request ... implemented
and much more ...

It is just, that there is always a website, that is not working ... like your
bank. I have installed Firefox for that ... so once a month i use that.
And like i sade, nothing is perfect ... but for any bug you found in Opera, you
will find another bug in Firefox or Chrome (and ten in IE )

User Scripts are implemented as you see.

Literally, all modern browser features originated in Opera and client side scripting is one of them. People were writing ad blockers for Opera long before other browsers had plugins for this.

Firebug? Already implemented, Opera Dragonfly.

Also, Opera does support extensions but I use none of them (except one, a YouTube downloading tool,
which is awesome and it integrates itself nicely into the side by just adding a download button below the video).
Everything I really need is already implemented natively.

Opera is free and hasn't had ads since 2005. Before 2005, people paid for Opera for the same reason people paid for Netscape back in the day: They were worth the money and were much better than the browser Microsoft put out.

Netscape WAS better than IE, but around v4.5 their quality and stability started going downhill and got so bad that by v4.7 when I switched from Windows 95 OSR2 to Windows 2000, I also switched to IE and OE. I stopped using OE when I decided to switch my email to an independant service so ISP changes wouldn't affect my e-mail address. Now IE is getting bad, IE8 is horrible compared to IE7 and the only things IE7 had over IE6 was tabs and a pop-up blocker, that I'm now considering abandoning IE except for those few sites that don't work on any other browser, and going back to using a 3rd party browser.

I'll probably go with Chrome because I use quite a few of Google's services and my phone uses Android, but I'm open to other browser suggestions if they can tell me why they are better than Chrome.

Do what I do: use Firefox with the IETabPlus extension. It means you can view IE-only sites in Firefox, without needing to launch Internet Explorer to view them. It even lets you save a list of IE-only sites so when you select them from your Firefox bookmarks, Firefox automatically renders them with IE's engine for you. Opera and Chrome can't do THAT, as far as I know.

Even PureBasic can render with IE-Engine, so it is not the matter that they can't do it.
It is more like ... they dont want to use such an horrible engine.

But it sounds really funny to me, to use it like that. It sounds like you would
buy a mac ... but installing windows into that just to use windows only ... lol!
There is no website that is IE-Only ... there are a few sides who are using
plugins that are not available for Opera, but they always offer one for Firefox
these days. So it is enough to have firefox as a second browser for that.
The other is the windows update on XP ... but i doesn't count that site as
a website, it is windows update.

Oh yes, there is ActiveX stuff. But come on, that is so out dated thats like a
museum. Please give me some sites that are "IE"-Only, except if it is ActiveX.

I used Opera for a short time 2 years ago and i didnt liked it. It was slower than any of the other big browsers and if one tab was doing some heavy work the others couldnt be used. Dont know how it is today, i use Seamonkey which uses the Mozilla engine.

Netscape WAS better than IE, but around v4.5 their quality and stability started going downhill and got so bad that by v4.7

4.5 was the last real version of Netscape. AOL bought it about a month after 4.5 was released and completely destroyed it like they do anything they buy.

I haven't had good luck with Chrome, which sucks because I want to like it. Too slow for me, much slower than other browsers, including other WebKit browsers. Opera tends to be the fastest for me, but I don't like it anymore. QTWeb is very fast for me and I really like CometBird which seems much faster than Mozilla.

GWarner: You might want to look at LUNASCAPE. It has the three major browser engines built in. It has been a while since I tried it, but it was pretty impressive.

Tried some other sides randomly ... and had no problem.

If you aren't familiar with the HTTP-technology here is a hint:
Just change the user-agent in Opera to IE ... thats it.
Like i said, there is no IE-Only except, they are using
IE specific Technology like (the old) ActiveX ... and that can
be the same case for sites where is a FireFox plugin needed.
