Change default font from courier and color scheme

Post by sNoOOPy »

My first impression when I used the pb ide was that it had a strange font that didn't seem to be antialiased and was pixelated. It was straining on the eyes to look at for long periods. Later I discovered the font section in preferences and with a different font and a larger font size it was much easier to read.

The PureBasic default color scheme is grey and drab and doesn't have as many colors to distinguish the different types of words.

PHP Extended or Black Style are easier to read and have more words with different colors.

LOL.

Why should your understanding of "simple" be easier for all?

default = default, and not more.

Anyone can read the help, and find out how to change the font:

Courier New is terrible, but is guaranteed to be found on almost all computers capable of installing PB. I suppose this is the reason for it being the default font.

Looking at the default color scheme, on the other hand, feels like getting stabbed in the eyes with a rusty fork, and I see no reason for it being the default color scheme. But I guess it is a matter of taste!

The splash screen could use an update as well, it looks incredibly dated. Also, on my computer, it flashes away too quickly.

@eesau: As far as I know, a splash screen is just for the purpose to show that the application is already present but still loading. Even though it gives the application a bit more "cool" feeling. If the application is loading so fast, that the splash screen does not need to be displayed more than for example one second, it is questionable if it is necessary at all.
