Works fine here. Well done so far though could start out a little harder.

I get the checkerboard screen...hit enter, and it goes black. Space bar makes the laser sound, but screen stays black. I've got Win7-32 (x86)

If it's too easy in the beginning, maybe a starting difficulty can be added?
