Chromium (S3?) looks good, at least on paper.

(Generally) The best GPU for me is the fastest I can buy for less than < 80 USD. Sometimes it's one of the slower Nvidias, sometimes ATI.

Currently: ATI Radeon 9000 Pro; before GeForce 2 MX 400, Riva TNT 2/32, 3dfx Voodoo "beat me but I don't know the name anymore".

I prefer to spend then saved money on booze and expansive woman.

I used to be a die hard Nvidia fan, but now im with ATI. ATI are just plain faster with better image quality (this may change).

I think ATI is winning the graphics card wars so far.. Hard to say though... It's worst than AMD vs Intel!

It's hard to justify buying a $500 graphics card for my $1000 PC when there are game consoles out there for $179ish... I've almost stopped gaming on the computer except for some games that require more of an interface than a little joystick-pad-thingie (Diablo 2, strategy games) and those really don't require super graphics cards..

i chose other.... not that there really are any non-ati non-nv cards that are any good... i chose other because i didn't want to choose either. i don't really like either of the companies. nvidia, who likes to cheat on benchmarks (ATI isn't innocent of that either), and ATI has crappy drivers... i admit that ATI is definantly making strides to improve their drivers, but that's not my only issue with them. ATI likes to dump their cheap products, even if they're BETTER than the replacement product that will fill in the spot on their lineup.

for the record... i have an nvidia card now (Geforce 4-Ti4200-8x 128mb) but it's not a DX9 card, and i bought it because it was DIRT CHEAP (about $100 US) i don't really play that many games on my PC anymore, and the games that i do play don't really need all that much power (i quit playing FPS games a year or so ago)

anyhow, i got a PS2 for playing games, and i prefer it over my pc. (yes, i know that pc graphics are better and faster, but consoles have better games IMHO.)

nVidia's legendary drivers will make me an nVidia fan forever. Do you guys not remember the days before nVidia. It was driver HELL nVidia fixed all of that. ATI almost went out of business because of their HORRIBLE drivers. Try this: put ATI hardware from Windows 98 era on Windows XP. Now do the same with nVidia. Long live nVidia!

Yesterday I gave my Geforce 5600 Ultra (256 MB Ram) back to my storage and changed it to a ATI 9600 Pro 128 MB. The ATI card is up to 2 times faster in aquamark benchmark and is about 50 euro cheaper.

The Catalyst Drivers looks good to me and seems to be stable on XP machine.

I tested the card with Splinter Cell (DX8 Game) and it gived a complete performance boost for that game. I enabled the 2xFSA and it is still playable at good rates. (All on High Detailed Level in Gamesettings). This was not possible with the GeforceFx5600 Ultra, the game becomes unplayable.

Nvidia: Go and give us a better GPU and I will come back to you!

Cheers
