no icon include with the app

Post by mamute »

hello,

Excuse me for my english, I'm french.

I have a problem when I create the .app file, my icon was not included and I've the default icon but the app work well... these just the icon problem.

I try to compil with PB 4.41, 4.5 and 4.51..

I test all I can imagine for solutions but I don't try to resolve it... I need help.

Thank.

Hi mamute,
welcome :-)
Did you use the Icon Composer, which comes with xCode to create your icon?
Did you set the filename correctly in Compiler-Options?
Some Screenshots could help :-)

Try this:
- rightclick on the .App, show contents.
- double click the Contents/Info.plist
- Here you will find the information "Icon File"
The Icon-File should be in the Contents/Resources-folder.

Yes, it the right name, with uppercase.

there is the correct icon in the ressource folder, but not in the finder when I see the .app

The comment of checking the plist, by jamirokwai, was good. Use IconComposer and be sure the file ends with '.icns'.It should also be noted that it can take a while for the new icons to show because the system has to update it's info. There has been various methods suggested to force the system to update more quickly but none of them has worked reliably for me.

That is true on Windows as well. A quick way to check - just copy or cut the exe to another folder.

If it sounds simple, you have not grasped the complexity.

I change the ico file to icns, re compile my app... no change, but I copy it and paste it to a new folder and it's ok...

Thank for your reactivity...
