Hi
Every now and then I stumble upon usable freeware coded with autohotkey
or autoit. This brought me to the following idea : collect all the existing freeware
that is made with PureBasic, sort it out for it's usability / popularity for an
average computer user and upload it to places like download.com - pcworld -
zdnet.com - tucows - etc. etc. This would certainly add to promoting PureBasic.

There is a difference between knowing the code and writing the code.
May the code be strong in your projects.

....but how many apps identify the language they have been coded with? Not many. It's quite possible that freeware apps coded in PB are already available on the sites mentioned.

If it sounds simple, you have not grasped the complexity.

are talking freeware apps here. It should be no problem to find a way to mention
it with freeware.
Besides that, the places where you upload your app to, allow you to write a description
about your app, what it does, how to use it, system requirements, etc. etc. etc.
You can add in this description that it was made with purebasic.

Yes, most shareware and other commercial apps don't mention that, but webut how many apps identify the language they have been coded with?

Re: Promoting PureBasic
I talked about PureBasic on the Polish discussion forum, dedicated to programming and different programming languages. One person said that this dialect is, at least in Poland, very unpopular and even niche. Below are a translated quote:
I know it is written quite a strong statement, but it's hard for me to say anything because I came across of PureBasic quite recently. No demand for such a product. Who needs a language that:
- Is yet another BASIC
- Does not support any modern used programming paradigm
- It reminds clone of another language thrown in by see-me-the author of functions from several domains
- It is not supported by any popular IDE or editor, and does not look like that could be connected to a different software, shell scripts or tools to build.
- From the documentation and forums it is shown that you can not connect any libraries, unless the calling of simple functions or antiquated COM (ie, repetition of VB6)
- It costs € 79 and is closed when virtually all the competition is free, and a large part is opened
- Little is known about it: so much on what the cat wept, and even that not quite work
Re: Promoting PureBasic
Such claims are useless, especially from someone which didn't even used PureBasic. Just posting cons without even listing the pro is really bad testimony. So why reposting it here ? Locked.
