Post by Kale »

Check this out for a massively bloated exe:

http://www.codingarea.co.uk/Tech__Demos/PlayIntro.exe

This is a 'Tech Demo' showcasing DarkBasicPro. (36Mb 8O ) If you can be bothered to download it you will be dissapointedly shocked how bloaty it is.

Thank God for Fred and PureBasic!!! :D :D :D

Has anyone downloaded it yet to see this guru programming wizardry? Ok i'll tell you what its like: Its a space scene that has the Earth and another planet move about in 3D and when the sun comes into view you get a little lens flare then the words 'www.codingarea.net' comes into view and thats it! It all lasts for about 10-15seconds, all for 36Mb 8O You have to see it to believe it. I think they used a Bloat() command and added about 35Mb of zeros to their code

Yup,

I downloaded it - I thought it was an error, that it quits after 10 seconds
Unbelievable poor tech-demo. Really not the best promotion for a product.

A better use for bloater a file is to include a lot of graphics and icons for embellish our forms and dialogs with them. Something like the clasics forms in the installers programs with the left side dedicated to a graphic or photo.
Another good use must be include a high resolution photo (1600 x 1400 pixels) of our house, our pet, or an advertising for the product (eggs).

C'mon...

Come on, guys. The 36MB is going to be *data*, not a result of bloated executables. The same data would be the same size regardless of the language!

(That said, DB sux!)
