How large is the data? If the data isn't too large why not simply do a multi disk zip and transfer the data per floppy?

about 30 - 40 MB they have about 20 years of customer data. Problem is I'm not sure I trust the FDD - a multi Archive Zip is my 2nd to last resort:
1) File xfer via serial / parallel port
2) Zip FDD Archive
3) Transfer the HDD

Buy a second hand (external) zip drive or hdd with a (Dos) bootfloppy and copy the data?
