Is anyone familiar with insulation tape, thermal resistance?

For everything that's not in any way related to PureBasic. General chat etc...

Is anyone familiar with insulation tape, thermal resistance?

PixelAeo, that's me:

I've already dismantled the laptop and removed the top cover. The part in question ended up being the wireless card plugged into a small mini-pcie slot.

My question is, what can I put on the reverse side of the palm rest to mitigate the wireless card from heating up the palm rest?

There is plenty of room for me to layer stuff. I just need to find the right thing to do it with.

This is what I found while trying to google a solution:

Ceramic Insulation Tape | UltiMachine
Ceramic Paper - Wale Apparatus

"Ceramic Insulation Tape"
~continuous service temperature of 2300 degrees Fahrenheit
~melting point temperature of 3200 degrees Fahrenheit
~outstanding thermal insulation
~low thermal conductivity and heat storage
~good dielectric strength
~high resiliency
~easily cut with standard scissors
Key points are:
~outstanding thermal insulation
~low thermal conductivity and heat storage
Is this what I want? Or is there something better?

Clearly a poor design or faulty assembly - I would take the machine back for a refund because it's never going to be right. If the card is actually within it's spec for the amount of heat generated, then the manufacturer should have something fitted that dissipates that heat. I have an HP laptop that is run practically all day as though it were a desktop machine - nothing external gets hot at all.

If the laptop is out of warranty and you can't take it back, you might be able to replace the WiFi card. Failing that, you could try a small piece of household reflective radiator foil, but in stopping the heat from being absorbed by the case, you will be putting extra stress on the board.

If it sounds simple, you have not grasped the complexity.
