The XPS-printer can not be set to higher than 1, but why should it?
Normal/real devices & even CutePFD works well.

at first glimpse I had the impression that the graphical differences might
be a matter of the XP skin. And in fact after testing the functionwith XP skin enabled and disabled I was able to reproduce your two
screenhots (tested on a 64 Bit Intel iMac with Windows 7 Home Edition
and both PB 4.51 x86 and x64)...
