Miniature Key-Fob movie + sound camera

Post by RichardL »

Hi,
A colleague at work has experimented with one of these cameras secured to his son's radio controlled car and the results are truly excellent. Because it uses MJPEG instead of MPEG encoding there are no motion artifacts. It takes stills or 30 fps colour movies and you can just plug it into a USB port to charge / replay.

The price is truly amazing, someone obviously has some surplus stock...

I apologies if this post is viewed as advertising and If so I am content that the moderator deletes it, but I think PB users are practical hand-on individuals and will enjoy finding uses for them.

(Quotes need to stop PB site truncating the above... remove them!)

Interesting page about them, the one we got was a ‘type 3’ :

I nearly ordered one myself, but the video quality seems awful. Do you have a link to a type 3 camera video on youtube?

The video and sound quality for a properly working unit is first class, I have just ordered another ten for the guys on my amateur radio net and in the lab.

At this price order two... Justin Case! (Lodge master of the ancient society of devout cowards.)

Yeah I've heard of it in a German µC community. But I've also experimented with the old gameboy camera .. as I've just got 1kByte of SRAM in my µC which isn't even enough for this.
bye,

Ordered 2 from eBayer sourcinggreat - I think in Hong Kong, arrived in just a couple of days (wow) unfortunately one of the cams was DOA so sent them a note and they sent 2 more (wow again). Had to order a couple of TF memory cards as well which took a couple of days to arrive as well. All in each camera cost me about £8

The camera itself is nice and simple to operate (even though the buttons aren't labelled) while the stills quality is ok, the video quality is amazing - especially when you consider the size and cost of the device - 30fps & 720x480 - colour balance is perhaps a little bright...

Anyway, I'm going to order a couple more for the kids (xmas stocking fillers)
