Had a job interview today and it went great

Post by GeoTrail »

Yup. I applied for a job as a teacher at a private school in Bergen called Akademiet (Academy) on Wednesday night. Thursday the manager of the school called me and asked if I could meet for an interview on Friday, today. I went, everything went extremely well and I got the job. They want me to start on Monday. The pay isn't great, hey it's a teacher job, but the hours a good, from 9 am to 3 pm. How sweet is that.

So tonight I am going to celebrate with some beers and vodka. Don't worry, I'm going to take it easy. Just stay at home relaxing with a few good movies and good eatin' ;)

Damn, I am so happy right now. Well, that's all I have for now :) Just had to get it out here

Nice!
I wish you all the best and hope you'll enjoy your job as I do (I've moved from IT networking to school some years ago)

Thanks guys.
Had my first day today. Was actually a long day even though it was only 6 hours of class room work.
Had to talk to some students after school, but it was really fun. I like this job so far, and they say that the monday is the worst/busiest day. There were a total of 36 students in my class today, luckily I had a more experienced teacher that help me out along the way.
I am really tired now, not in a physical way, but mentally. A lot of stuff to learn, names to learn, students are sooo different and learn at different speeds.
But so far, everything is great.
On my way home, I though my car was stolen. Turned out, I went to the wrong level in the garage. I even started calling the police when I figured I might as well check the other levels first. Egg on my face hehehehe

I taught Middle School (Grades 6 - 8 // ages 11 to 14 or thereabouts) for 10 years... Art and Computer Science... There were some woderful parts and a lot of painful memories... Parents were horrid when they either didn't respect my subject (Art) or thought they knew more than I what should be taught (Comp Sci) and administrators were impossible... I don't miss the Admins or the Parents and possibly 10% of the kids!

I taught 5 one hour and 20 minutes classes a day... average class size 40+

You got it made! Remember proper lesson planning is the key... unless you are doing Montessouri... I was on the Hunter/Ausubell methodology...
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!
