Summer 2010 PurePunch Contest - Vote

Post by djes »

September 2010

Results, winners of the Summer 2010 PurePunch contest
  1. 1st : Cool Dji / Gaga Punch with 19 points
    2nd : G-Rom / Invade-demo with 14 points
    3rd : Idle / IdleArts Re-Nova Attractor Media Player Ex-Aequo with Infratec / Slider with 8 points
Congratulations to Cool Dji, who had set the level very high, and deserves to win !
Congratulations to following competitors, G-Rom, Idle and Infratec who have been able to offer codes more than interesting in all fields and deserve their place on the podium.
Finally, thank you to all participants without whom this very special competition would not exist.

The final word comes to Cool Dji who has proposed his gains (except the Fred's mug ) in game for the winter competition, for what I encourage you to discuss the details in this thread. This is very generous and I thank him on behalf of all punchers! Cheers!

Summer 2010 PurePunch Contest Vote

The contest is now over. 8 programs have been made, a little bit less than we may have hoped. It seems that some people have felt a bit discouraged by the average level. So shame, as the contest is done for that : to evaluate yourself, with the help of the others, their opinion. Thus, the next contest will introduce an encrypted archive diffusion, with password revealed only at the end.

However, the result is still great ! We had a serial by our friend G-Rom, a demonstration of network game by Nituvious, a comprehensive multimedia player with configurable visual effects by Idle, a puzzle game by Infratec, a zoom effect by SPH, and a great demo by Cool Dji. Pretty codes that give a good few hours of exploration for many PureBasic programmers (and perhaps others) !

While most of these productions do not fall into demo category, I'll leave the choice, vote for your favorite in your soul and conscience. The winner will have the chance, for the first time since the early PurePunchs, to receive nice prizes donated by generous donors and sponsors:
  • Fred will give a customised Mug ! :P
  • Taznormand will give a FireWire PCI card 3 external plugs + 1 internal to the winner (shipping limited)
  • Gildev will give :
    • an optical USB mouse (OEM without box)
      a mousepad
      a pen
  • 3d0uard0 has opened a FTP to easily share your files
  • Reel Media Productions will provide a fully registered copy of PureVisionXP to the first place winner
I thank them again, on behalf of all participants !

Voting Rules
  • Only registered before July 1st, 2010 will have their vote counted
    Voting for yourself is prohibited
Post a message in this forum indicating the order of preference :
  • (name of the winner) : 3 points
  • (name of second) : 2 points
  • (name of third) : 1 point
September 16, I count the votes and share the results.

Now, it's up to you !

I liked all the entries

Zoom was pretty neat and could make a nice screen saver, though it was more like an entree than a main
but it would have been a good entry for a 10 liner punch, still liked it though!

PB Slider I like it, just the sort of thing you want to mess around with while your waiting for a large download to finish.
A nice entry and deserving of a vote.

So my vote,

Cool dji 3 Nice demo of what can be achieved with PB, liked the overall aesthetics and bang on topic (oh that's what a demo is)
Grom 2 Really liked the trilogy and the retro look, technically it may have been better than Gaga
Nituvious 1 Nice idea and a good effort in my opinion.

Really wish more people would have taken the opportunity to participate, in my view it's not about competition, its more of a personal challenge to see what you can do with PureBasic within the imposed limitations and you really don't know what you can achieve until you try, so it shouldn't matter if you're really experienced or still on training wheels, just give it a go.
