PB - OGRE3D first test

Post by marc_256 »

I just wrote my first (small) game test program in PB.
With a few keyboard controls, mouse controls, and some sound samples.
It is a beginning so ...

On my first computer 'AMD Athlon XP +3200 at 2.2 GHz' all works (not so fast) but its running well.
So, I wanted to test on my faster computer,
my second computer 'Intel PIV at 3.6 GHZ dual core' the keyboard control works fine,
the sound works fine, but the mouse (laser gaming mouse) is not working well.
Only if I move very very slowly the camera is turning around.
I changed the mouse resolution from low800 High1600 to low400high1600
but the same problem.
I installed a other game mouse with the same result.

Q: Is there someone who can point me in the good direction for this problem ?

Thanks,
Marc

Hello Marc

It could be a myriad of things that may cause the issue. If you could post a snippet of the code for other PB'ers to test with their mouse + Platform + OS etc, we might see a common denominator. Do your machines run a different OS, or a different DirectX? Edit: Is it that the Athlon has an ATI graphics card and the Intel has an nVidia one?

Hi IdeasVacuum,

Thanks for your answer,
My AMD runs with an older Graphic Card NVidea Gforce 5200
and the IntelP4 with ATI 6600.
The OS is for both WIN XP pro (SP3) dutch version.
I added some .WAV sound to the game,

When I start the game:

- Keyboard control = OK
- Mouse control = OK
- Screen refreshing = OK
- and the sound = OK

it work well for about 2 minutes...

- Keyboard control = OK
- Mouse control = OK
- Screen refreshing = OK
- The sound = NOK (no sound anymore)

And one minutes later I get an WIN error message on the screen and closes PB down.
The message is about an error in the 'Engine3d.dll'
I have to restart my program.

I placed some Error messages on my website (hosting) place:

http://www.marc-systems.be/PureBasic/GI ... ng_003.gif
http://www.marc-systems.be/PureBasic/GI ... ng_004.gif

When I try to compile the program I receive:
http://www.marc-systems.be/PureBasic/GI ... Failed.gif
Do someone know what JIT is ?
I'm not a C++ programmer...

Thanks,
Marc

JIT ? it's for Java IIRC and it means Just In Time (Compiled just in Time)

Hi

Looks like you are using the PB/Ogre sample 'Robot' Mesh? There should not be a problem with that of course. Not sure but the compile error message might suggest that you are loading the mesh data more than once. The message appears to be saying that the maximum face/vertex total has been exceeded (maximum is 65535).

Hello,

No, I use my own .mesh files,
made via Blender, OgreXMLConverter, to PureBasic.

These are 'test' drawings for my program of my own builded robot.
(I will upload the example software if it is working)

These are working fine now :o
I just installed PB4.51RC1 and there is an improvement.
I tested the sound (.wav) with the new version of PB and it looks to work...
We will see...

The only problem I still have is the compiled version of my software.

Q: is it possible to integrate my .mesh files in ONE PB file ??

Thanks all,
Marc

You can include them as Data.

Or include all data inside a ZIP file and rename it's extension ....

Then use Add3DArchive("MyData.myfileextension", #PB_3DArchive_Zip)
