All white background?

My experience with pb is that windows are light gray by default along with the edges of the gadgets (esp. buttons) and the background of TextGadgets. Although I can change the window color (with SetWindowColor()) the edges of the gadgets and the TextGadget background being gray makes the whole thing ugly. I am stuck making grey windows all the time. Is there a way to make white (or any other color) the default for all these things?
