what is your real problem with the current version?

I want to know that too since the bugfixes corrected happen very rarely.
And I'm a DBA.

I'd have to say I'm against a SQLite version change in a bugfix version unless someone is able to produce a PB bug report exhibiting a sqlite bug that would be fixed as a result.

My production code is already tested against 4.41. I hope not to have to test it against sqlite for no valid reason.

Have to agree on that, more suited for a 4.42 for example. Then again if there is no API change in the SQL version then it should work AS IS with old code. (should be noted in SQLite release notes)
