Offline Forum?

Got an idea for enhancing PureBasic? New command(s) you'd like to see?

I have downloaded 186 Mbs of the forums so far.. Don't know if forums search will work though, probably not.

Please don't do this, it's useless and put heavy load on servers. I'm not against an offline forum, but will all of you install an mysql server and web server (with php + phpbb3) just to have an offline copy ? Sounds very unlikely to me.

I've already got EasyPHP installed for PHP stuff so it's not much of a hassle, I think a posting of the actual DB (minus any confidential info :D) will probably save you alot of bw, I don't mind uploading it to rapidshare and other sites where they'll stay :)

After stripping out every piece of user related data it won't be a functioning forum dump anymore.

Whats with the paranoia of having to "own" a copy of everything anyway? Are you so afraid the forum won't be here anymore tomorrow?

No need to strip everything, just remove pm's, maybe make all user profile/board options the same and remove passwords for everyone except for 1 user, only have posts from certain sections and it'll be a decent dump.

What's wrong with us requesting an offline version, the forum/site has been down a few times in the past months anyway so an offline version would've been useful, plus it'd be much faster for some.

The forum's not with me on the train to/from work, is it? That's when I need it the most, during that long dead travel time. Or for a three-hour plane trip to another state. Just showing you that an offline version does have merits, and that it's not a useless idea.

I would convert it to an SQLite database, of course. :)

...but if Fred`s asking for donations for the wedding for his daughter, we`re allowed to be afraid, that this could happen

It`s like UserOfPure said, there are places, where the internet connection isn`t good...
