Date and Time Picker Control

Post by rsts »

I need a convenient way for a user to choose/select a date and time. The time pickers in XP/Vista/Win7 would appear to be a good choice and I'm wondering if anyone has already cracked that nut, so to speak?

I tried the method MSDN suggested "You can also drag a Date Time Picker control from the Toolbox in the Microsoft Visual Studio resource editor" but didn't get anything of use in my PB program :D .

Looks like I could convert the code, but by then my program would probably be obsolete.

If you've got something, even a suitable alternative, I would appreciate taking a look.

cheers

Thanks. I had looked at that in the beginning but thought I wanted a more elegant approach. Given what I've learned about the data and time picker API (and how much there is yet to learn), this may be the better solution after all.

Certainly easier to implement. thanks for reminding me :D I'm starting to forget so often I find myself going in circles. This time, it seems to have paid off. :)

cheers

edit. Now I remember - Looks like the dateGadget works with 24 hour time. I can't see a way to have it permit selection of AM/PM. Guess I'll still have to have some buttons if I use this approach.

I have one made that's similar to the Vista date/time picker, but it's one of the supplemental gadgets in my upcoming PureRAD designer project, so I can't share it here unfortunately. Pity though, I'd like to.

A new designer Netmaestro?

Sounds intriguing. 8)

Any more details or are your lips sealed?

You're one of the responders in that thread...

@srod: Lips are locked for now, on all but the name. Expected date of release is mid-June 2010 and I'm working on it almost to the exclusion of everything else. Which means that, unfortunately, it isn't going to be free. But it'll be very reasonable.

And very impressive I've no doubt! :)

I know how it feels to work on something for so long at the exclusion of all else... cue Arctic Reports! Fun though; if you enjoy working on the particular project mind.

Indeed, I have embarked upon yet another (not entirely unrelated) eater of time, and it is a whole heap of fun!

Good luck to you with this designer; I can't wait to see it.

c'mon, Mr Maestro, you make me seem dumb enough with your elegant solutions. No need to rub it in :D

Thanks so much, I can let the goal slip, I suppose. I once responded to a gentleman's request for help on a similar project only to find a new request some days later that he was still looking for "good" help. While there are other goals to be sure, one significant goal of PureRAD is to make that esteemed gentleman's mouth drop open. And when it does I hope he will man up, go into his Admin panel, and change his title to "PureBasic Doofus" for 24 hours. (hehe)

If you don't mind me speaking about you in the 3rd party sense for a moment, then I once said within these forums that all it takes to get some code written is to tell Netmaestro that it can't be done and to then sit back and await the code! If I'd known that I don't even have to do that, but that all it takes is a well directed insult then I'd have opened my potty mouth a long time ago! :)

Right you steaming nonce, I know for a fact that you can't code me a PB to C compiler can you now?
