Can't you back up e-mails in a *.pst file? That should do the trick.

This way even backing up and restoring emails is easy... you just have to copy/paste them back on the folders....

Also create an mail.index for quick search and upload into the client of the mails in the dirs.

Bad idea

I have test that with 6666 mails ... it very slow and
take much space (because the Microsoft filesystem ... cluster size ...).

But yes - that way it's very easy todo things like copy, erase, create mails

Hmmmmm ... maybe I wan't to switch to a SQL solution or something
like that

I used The Bat for awhile before I decided to purchase a license for it and I loved it. But after I got my license it started acting weird. The GUI get messed up, kinda like I draged the window objects all around the window. And when I restore my backup email it corrupts the program. I've emailed them about them but they said there wasen't any problem on their end so it hasen't been fixed. Really regret buying that.

So now I use Thunderbird which works perfectly. Although, I really miss the template and macro features from The Bat which was why I bought it in the first place

Incredimail seems to me like it's ment for inexperienced users with all those animations and dippedidoodas hehe.

Think I'll stick with Thunderbird for now. Works great for me.

Look for the PBMail app on www.powerbasic.com > files
This example works for me.
The GUI is poor and should not be used this way.
The code might help you with the different protocols.

I'm currently using Inscribe (the commercial version of i.scribe, see http://www.memecode.com) for my private email accounts.
which is very small sity nicely in the tray, needs only very little RAM. Still looks very pleasant.

Well I just love it.
