Yes, asking Fred in a post here might have been better. It seems that anyone with a blog tends to run on 'automatic' and resort to blogging as their only thought, like zombies (blogbies ? ).

You say that of blogs. What's your take on Twitter ???

One of my clients uses Twitter and once sent me an e-mail with a link to their Twitter account... The latest "tweet" was "Hahaha me and my friend just ordered a pizza! We are watching movies ^___^". Can not really comment on that, just funny that some of my clients are so... how do you say it... idiots, yet take the business I do with them seriously

Twitter? Well, I don't take it seriously. Personally, i'm not interested in every moment of a persons coming and goings. I tried it, no thanks, it doesn't do anything for me that a little MSN doesn't take care of when I need to. IM'ing really never has impressed me that much any how, the very little MSN I do is enough. It just seems to me that all this stuff, twitter, facebook, my space, MSN, all the other typical social interaction types of things really isn't social at all and seem more like something someone made up and attached a name to along with a reason for existance to make it seem important when it really isn't. Just not my cup of tea I guess. Maybe i'm old fashion but when i want to talk to someone i do it face to face, or on the phone, or I still actually sit down with pen and paper and write letters or sometimes I use Word to do it, and I do email sometimes. Its become too much really, all the electronic medium stuff to communicate with. We have two women at work, they will be sitting less then 10 feet from each other but instead of talking to each other they will text each other on their cell phones. And who really cares about a day in the life of some stranger on his/her blog somewhere anyway.

All the richness and possibility of whats available and all we can use it for is to tell someone that we just ordered pizza, or gripe about someone else, or tell someone the events of our lives for every waking moment like some other nameless and faceless entity in cyberspace really cares, or sacrifice real physical social interaction with a text message when the person is only a few feet from you. Its just, in some way, sad.

I have this feeling, prediction in a way, that one day were going to evolve in our communications methods to the point where someone will once again discover they can actually speak to other people face to face. Real human interaction will be re-discovered and the iPhone people will concede "We don't have an app for that."

I do. There are tons of interesting blogs around, even PureBasic ones. With that many blogs it's a must to have a feed reader though, I use Google Reader. Makes the whole thing much easier.

But...there are differences between blogs such as those of a programming nature and those that do stuff like "I have a cold today, I feel miserable. After i went to the bathroom.....".

One is of an niche nature with specific focus or theme that is associative to a particular group with a common interest - the other is just blurting out stuff or rants focused on a single person talking about them self and really offers nothing to any certain group.

It depends on the blog's author. I agree that most blogs by ordinary everyday folks like you and me are or would be boring.

But blogs from interesting people with interesting things to say could hardly be called boring.

Like SFSx01, all this time I've avoided the social networking sites until my family decided that Facebook would be our official way to stay in touch. Instead of wading through lots of boring e-mail I can now just hit the few Facebook pages I'm interested in. I also found out that there is a Facebook group for employees of the company I work for.
