I am building a new machine, it will have the following:
1 AMD 955 Black edition dual core Cpu
1 Asus MA78-e Motherboard
6 Gig Skill DDR3 1600 Ram
1 Velo Raptor 150 Gig WD Hard Drive
1 Radeon 4850 Video Card
What I'd like to know: After Machine is assembled in XP is installed should I Goe into CMOS and set up what needs to be setup and then use the Motherboard Disk that came with the board, or Do I use the disk that came with the Motherboard and then go into CMOS?
This Board has Express which is Linux in Rom. Can I boot this Thing in linux 1st and set it up?

setting up computer
I know that, I have both and intend to use both. I know that I have specified an out Dated CPU(not a Quad) but I don't really have any software that can use even a dual core, I also know that my Hard Drive is way to small for the average use today, but I don't download Pictures of Music and for me 150 GIG is Overkill. My problem is I don't want to spend the money to have someone set up the machine which I built with my grubby little hands. I know that everyone on this forum is smarter then me that is why I asked the question. So Can anyone answer my qustion tho?

I can't answer your question, but IMHO this mainboard doesn't support DDR3 RAM

Old bugs good, new bugs bad! Updates are evil: might fix old bugs and introduce no new ones.

You first configure your BIOS, if that is something you really think you need to do, it should be configured just fine for most people already. And since you call it cmos I'd really recommend not touching it, no offence. Then you install your operating system. And then you install the latest drivers you previously download from Asus homepage. The stuff on the CD that comes with the motherboard is usually really old.
You can of course boot it into the onboard linux at any time, but there is nothing there for you to configure that will affect either BIOS or other operating systems.

It's an AM2+ Board, not an AM3 Board.
This Board supports AM3 CPU but not DDR3 RAM.
Only AM3 Boards do that!

Setting Up Bios
I can't beleive this is happening to me. I will never again try to brag about 1 of the many machines I've put together and say what will have in it. This is my Fault. The Motherboard will definitly use DDR3 ram it's an Asus M4A78T-e, it will support Triple ram or dual and the manual says so. I never expected anybody to do anything but take a glance at the list since the list has abosolutely nothing to do with the question I asked. I am blowing off steam(I'm 80 Years old) my nervous sytem can't take this.
5 people stopped to read the question. Only 1 person attempted to answer
the question and he couldn't control himself from proclaiming I'd better not
check my bios because I don't know what CMOS is. So happens I do know what Cmos is, its a metal oxide group of chips that make up the rom bios which if you took the Cmos out you wouldn't have a Bios to set up. What the hell is so much fun looking for misttakes rather then helping some one anyway. I've made about 12 mistakes typing this out Please do me a favor and let it PASS!!

Actually it was genuine concern that made me point that out, since if you don't know what you are doing you can literally damage motherbord/cpu/memory by changing settings in the BIOS. And I'm sure the others who responded about the motherboard not supporting DDR3 did so out of concern so that you didn't go buy stuff that would not work together.
I can't for the life if me understand why you would get so upset over it?

I apologize to all. Every single thing I do goes wrong. I can't seem to think
ahead. My bridge game is in the Dumper, every other time I try a new PB example it doesn't work right. I trumped my own ace yesterday. I am about to throw in the sponge.
