MS did wonders with Singularity. Paul Barham, Tim Harris and Rebecca Isaacs all worked on Singularity and are now working on Barrelfish. I am expecting good things to come out of this :)

Whenever I hear of a new operating system I think back to when Microsoft handed IBM a golden opportunity to take over the operating system dominance and IBM in their utter stupidity did nothing more than a few half hearted ads.

Had IBM's world famous marketing team been on the ball or allowed to do it's job, IBM would have owned Microsoft, lock, stock, and barrel and Windows would just be a footnote in history.

OS/2 was a damn fine operating system, it's such a pity IBM fucked it up so bad on the marketing end.
