Windows 7

Post by utopiomania »

I'm probably going to buy a new laptop with Vista Home Premium 64bit, and can upgrade for free to the equivalent Windows 7 version when it arrives in October.

Will PB 4.30 work fine on it after the upgrade?

Sure works fine here, I've been running Win7 RC since it came out, no problems whatsoever with PureBasic 4.3x

Just keep in mind that unless you use the 64bit version of PB, your PB created apps will run under emulation via WoW64.

Thanks, this sounds good!

Another thing, just got a reply saying this laptop has a BD-ROM, but can't burn BD's. It can play them, but not burn them.

Should I buy it now or wait. It's quite expensive, so I plan to keep it for two to three years.

That's only on the x64 build of Win7; you make it should like its on all versions of it.

@utopiomania: I'd say investigate whether you can upgrade the BD-ROM drive at a later stage - 2 to 3 years is plenty of time to do that

They have a 4x BD writer option, but not here in Norway right now, so I can probably upgrade later.

Seems BD writing is a bit early right now? So I'm going to buy it. Its an Acer Aspire 8935G.
