Yes, you can spoof numbers in the caller id system. Typically larger PBX phone systems have the ability to assign numbers to their phone lines internally, but this also has the effect of showing those numbers on outside calls. Telemarketers use this to their advantage now and drum up bogus numbers to their phones within their business for when they dial out.
