Racism can be a strange reverse thing too.
When I was a young boy, I used to be called a "WOG" which was incorrect as it stands for "Western Oriental Gentleman" and it referred originally to the chinese labourers in our goldfields.
I was born in Australia to Hungarian parents and the boys who called me that were italian immigrants, go figure. I used to laugh so much back then and they hated it because I understood it and they didn't.
People will call you anything when they don't like you (or beat you up) in a vainglorious attempt to feel superior and they usually fail as it is their own inadequacy in dealing with you that is the problem and not you.
I don't get called names any more but I am worried about the spate of Australian tradesmen who roar about our streets in noisy utes, drinking, smoking, swearing and they pretty much always whistle at me when they see me coming along in shorts when I am just trying to feel cool in this blasted heat.
Should I put on my concrete trousers perhaps?
P.s. One put down that I could never understand was being called a "portable pine tree". Anyone understand that one?????

I always find it amusing when other people assume that I may be laughing at one thing when in fact I am laughing at something else. Like most here, I find myself laughing both with Kwai and at his outlandish posts; hell if some of what he says fails to make someone laugh then my contention is that that person must have just returned from a lobotomy - or is in desperate need of one!
If someone wants to 'assume' that I am laughing at Kwai because of his English then well, what do I care? Assumption is the mother of all **** ups and I have better things to do than worry about what other people think. Whilst I am being accused of being racist then I'll be down the pub drinking myself silly with my old chum Kwai and anyone else who wants to join. No Aussies mind, those b*stards always drink all the good stuff!

Now that was funny and I', still smiling. But the retards who used to cause me misery when I was a kid and call me all sorts of names didn't have the intelligence of a smelly g-string to have used it in that context. Trust me on that one:):)PB wrote:> P.s. One put down that I could never understand was being called

@Fangbeast: How you handled the experiences you related reminds me of a quote by Brigham Young in which he says "He who takes offense when offense was not intended is a fool, yet he who takes offense when offense is intended is an even greater fool for he has succumbed to the will of his adversary."Fangbeast wrote:Racism can be a strange reverse thing too.

In the forums there are plenty of causes for misinterpretation, due to the brief exchanges via text in a foreign language (including not just the spoken ones but also PureBasic, math, SQL, etc.). Most are anxious to use that language better (especially PureBasic) if given the chance (and time, lots of time

But I don't know him, nor have I read any of his messages.Demivec wrote:No offense intended but being disappointed because of a majority vote of "No" is also surprising. I would be led to believe that you have never read one of Kwai's messages (which should have weighed in heavily in making a vote), but how could anyone miss them?
Taken as is with no other information than that provided by the question, a No vote to me shows a definite lack of respect for Kwaï chang caïne.
and it's about KCC not an other person, i you know the man, you can't say yes
the topic was about KCC not any person out there, read his messages here and look on the french forum, even if you don't understand french just by the way he uses BOLD and smiley and any picture he can throw in his messages you'll definitvely end with the no answer two.

No offence, but I answered 'no' and would do so again given the background here. I respect Kwai as much as I do the next person. It was a case of : "... hey, Kwai is a good lad who likes a good laugh and so no this is not a display of racism but something resulting from some intelligent and humorous exchanges..."Tipperton wrote:Taken as is with no other information than that provided by the question, a No vote to me shows a definite lack of respect for Kwaï chang caïne.
You can claim that I am showing Kwai a general lack of respect here, but then I would claim that a 'yes' answer to this question is showing an equal lack of respect to Kwai. To decide what is racist in a situation like this is a bit presumptious really and is not taking Kwai's feelings into account at all. I think he could make his own mind up here. How far does it go? I have a laugh with Kwai and then get accused of being racist! Well, it matters not at the end of the day.
In fact, this whole thread really is in itself showing a lack of respect to Kwai and in that I am definitely guilty!

well, you have surely missed a big part of in-forum comedy.Tipperton wrote:But I don't know him, nor have I read any of his messages.
there definitely IS key information provided in the question:Tipperton wrote:Taken as is with no other information than that provided by the question...
the name "Kwaï chang caïne"
A fellow User who acts as forums-jester just by purpose, and with a good hand for humor.
(and, as I suspect, at max with support of a translator, not completely google-translated)
also take into account that this topic was started because some blinkered pain-in-the-ass
offended PB via PM and accused him of racism far off any reason.
oh... and have a nice day.

Wrong. I provided an example link to read BEFORE voting, in the originalTipperton wrote:Taken as is with no other information than that provided by the question
post. You are supposed to read KCC's postings in that link and then vote.
So is it wrong or racist to laugh at that comment? NO WAY.KCC wrote:i'm a asshole in programming with a egg head

Thanks a lot, really thanksMASTER SFSxOI wrote:I think Kwaï is an intelligent person who is constantly trying to learn and might one day outpace us all in everything. He seems to want to learn something new everyday, and theres nothing that can be said against a person who wants to learn, after all; how many of you purposely sought out a learning experience today? Kwaï seems to do it every day.

You have describe in several words me

You have touch my heart

Yes CASE know me very well.i'm not sure kwai use google translator, anyway i assure you that his posts on the french forum are as funny as the ones here.
Because CASE is also a very good programmer and help me several time.
And i like and respect it

I use all the word that i have learn when i have 13 years in 6e (French school).
I have always love english, because my third passion is disc jockey
But i'm a litle bit idle, for learning when i was young.
And i have a little brain, when i learn something.....then i forget another thing

I do care to not forget my personal adress, or the name of my dog...because a day i enter in my home, and he eat me by little piece

Or better again, if i forget the name of my wife

So i use this words and translate word by word.
I know it's not the good way....but i don't know another method

And when i don't know a word.....i use "WordReference.com" for replace it in my sentence

It's a link who is give to me by the MASTER FLYPE (My king)
Because i have three rank in the forums (in the order of time)
1/ i'm the buffoon of MASTER FLYPE
2/ i'm the personal IDIOT of MASTER SROD
3/ i'm now the assistant KCCSKIE of MASTER SROD
And i'm proud of all that, and i want to keep this rank

I don't use Google now, because with Google it's again less better

I go to explain an history what happened to me (Sorry for too long

In the deutch forum, a member is bad with KCC, and say to KCC that if he don't speak deutch he must go to english forum

The more funny it's that KCC don't know speak english too

KCC is very sad, because he believe that all the member of PB is brother, and if KCC go to deutch forum, it's because there are also MASTER, and perhaps he never come in the english forum.
Like usually the question of KCC is hard and the french and English forum can't help me.
And a super hero appears of behind the shrub

It's one of my hero now.....it's KIFFI

He have contested the bad member, and have protect me

I have nearly the teardrop at the eyes

KIFFI is a great great programmer and also a great deutchman

TSSoft also have accept me, and be very very very patient with the oyster KCC.
He help me without any bad words, and i want also thank this deutchman

In the forum english i have never feel racism against me

Never a member is bad with me
Thanks too, you have also rightGreat DEMIVEC wrote:In other words, if a person has doubts about whether Kwai intends to make readers laugh then the doubting person is grossly unperceptive. On the other hand, the only thing that is usually in question is what he actually "intended" to say.
It would seem Kwai's hope, like most here, is to receive answers to his queries and to be of some help in return (if possible). The only thing that should get a "No" response is if someone was mocked for simply asking a question.

I love laugh because the laugh is an universal language

And not offense, but i think that in the english forum perhaps a little bit of humor better is necessary
In french forum....we mix the humor and the answer, in the same time.
We respect the programming, but there are several way to say an answer, and when she is give with humor, it's two present in one

Great DEMIVEC wrote:I also agree with Kwai, it's strange for him to be the subject of so many threads, instead of just his questions. He seems to be very sensational.
SROD and Demivec have right.MASTER SROD renter of the IDIOTMAN KCC wrote:In fact, this whole thread really is in itself showing a lack of respect to Kwai and in that I am definitely guilty!
I find this thread a little bit surprising

I have already say that, but i have the feel to be judged

Like if i have do the crime of make laughing my brothers

PB is a good man, and i like it.
And don't worry.....if a day somebody is bad with me, i can also is bad.
I'm not a buffoon in the real life, but in programming yes.
With internet, i can talk with my heroes, like my star.
And in the life i think that it's important to know where is your place.
A man can be at the down of the scale, in the programming, and ear all the conseil, without say a word

And the same man, can be a professor, for made a wall, if he is mason.
And this man, can teaching, at his professor in programming.
It's a loop

Everybody can be professor a day....but the subject is different, it's all.
Me.... when i come in a new subject, ...........i see my place in the scale of this subject.
And i try, to mount the rung, one by one
In the same time, i respect the MASTER above me, and the student below me.
If everybody know, where is his real place, and never be too much pretentious, ......then...... there are never fight, never war..

This is my personal mind
For me the MASTER can to be pretentious....he is the MASTER then he have the right

For to be the MASTER he have working, working, working, learn, learn, the day the night.
And a day he see around him....

Obviously, all the MASTER not be pretentious

And in the PB forum, i have no find a pretentious...
But even, if a MASTER is pretentious....he is not really bad....he have too much working, and want everybody respect his level and work, it's all.
For me the man that i hate.....it's the pretentious who don't know anything...and say at everybody, : "I know that....i know this..."
And teach everything and anything

Like say a GREAT comic in france (The better) :
"Quand on sait pas, on a qu'a fermer sa gueule"
When we don't know, we must shut your mouth

There are a enormous difference between, to be pretentious, and to be nasty with somebody
@All
Thanks at all, to laugh at my blather

Thanks to write your mind on me
Thanks for your kind words and sentences, KCC need somes friends like you.
If KCC unnerve you, he never want do it.

I know the programming is a serious thing

And i love it, since 16 years ago, but i work, work, work, all the day.
Even, i love programming....obvioulsy, the programming don't love me

But with all his friends and brothers of all the word.....KCC is very strong...and he can fight the bad programming

And it's the reason why, KCC is so proud to know, and never can thanks enough, at all his brothers who help it, all the day

MASTER Fluid Byte wrote:I remember that one! I pissed my pants!i'm a asshole in programming with a egg head
